Thanks for visiting our shop, I would like to give my self a quick introduction, so you know just what type of shop we are and who you are dealing with.My name is Chris Laureno I am a factory trained certified Yamaha outboard technician with 21 years of experience working on Yamaha outboards on the west coast of Florida. C&R Marine was opened in 2008. I believe in rebuilding, not replacing major components and entire outboards. I own/maintain and operate this shop alone so my lead times tend to stretch out a few weeks usually, depending on the magnitude of the job. I also believe in extremely high quality repairs that are within factory original specs. no matter how long they may take,I DON'T RUSH, this may inconvenience some people however, in my opinion waiting for a high quality rebuilt part is minor compared to the headaches associated with low quality rebuilt parts that were rushed out. I know every one has heard the saying,"HIGH QUALITY,FAST OR AFFORDABLE, PICK TWO" at C&R Marine we only offer HIGH QUALITY AND AFFORDABLE rebuilt components and machine services.
Here at C&R MARINE we have spent countless hours of research and development on our valve train components from alloys and finishes to margins, face widths, stem diameters, keeper groove depths and widths, tip chamfer, deeper seats, seal material, marinized guide alloys, spring heights and wire shapes and are proud to be able to say our components are less expensive and will out perform OE components with out question. Over the last 3 years we have put over 500 of each component out on the water all across the US with flawless results and very happy customers. These parts are available to everyone in our online store.
Complete cylinder head rebuilding can get very technical so usually this is done at a qualified head shop, very specialized tooling is needed to replace seats and guides and maintain concentricity. However, alot of the time you can ream the guides ,lap in the valves ,shim the cams and away you go.The shimming is where every one loses it ,not everyone has a huge selection of Yamaha shims laying around or a valve grinder to tip the valves ,so through our contact section we are more than happy to advise you how to go about your repair and we can provide you with the shims you need if things get out of hand. We are a 100 percent in house machine shop.
Our cylinder head service is $1100.00-$1350.00 + tax in FL and shipping depending on which model you have, this is rebuilding your head with all new valves, seals, and springs ,welding ,decking, bead blasting, painting the water jackets polishing the cams and shimming. You get a cylinder head that is ready to bolt on, with a 1 year warranty, we provide torque specs, belt orientation and bolt lube.We can also build you a kit -we will repair and prep your casting supply you with all the new parts and instructions and now you have a weekend project for $600.00-$750.00+tax and shipping, repairing your casting consists of bead blasting the entire head, welding all the corroded spots resurfacing it and seat prep ,you will need to paint the water jackets, lap and assemble the valve train clean your cams and buckets and shim the head.
At C&R Marine we are 100% in house, we don't out source any machining or welding. We are always striving to reliably repair components that no other shops will, and we have been very successful at it. So if you are wondering if it can repaired and how much it will cost please view our machine shop services page
We offer cylinder head repairs so we often get asked to just replace 1 or 2 valves ,weld it and surface it, we will try to explain to the customer why this is a bad idea , so rather than having 1 HR long conversations on the phone we have a complete educational page on valve train do's and don'ts.
In order to achieve tight tolerances you must use high quality measuring tools. At C&R Marine we only use the best such as Starrett,Peacock,Mitutoyo,Sunnen, etc.
And all of our machining processes are measured to .0001" (ten thousandths)or
.001 mm (microns)
